Pestara is designed to work primarily on-device. We collect minimal data: • Location (optional): Used only to detect your US region and show relevant pests and local pest control services. Your precise coordinates are never stored or transmitted to our servers. • Photos (optional): Images you upload to the AI identification feature are sent directly to OpenAI for analysis. We do not store, retain, or review these images. • Usage preferences: Settings such as search radius, dark mode, and your selected goals are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to us.
• To provide pest identification and treatment guidance through our AI assistant (powered by OpenAI's GPT-4o). • To find nearby pest control services (powered by Google Places API). • To personalize your in-app experience based on your stated goals. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Pestara integrates with the following third-party services: • OpenAI — processes text and image inputs for the AI Assistant. Subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy at openai.com/privacy. • Google Places API — retrieves nearby pest control businesses based on your location. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy. These services operate under their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.
All personal preferences and treatment history are stored locally on your device and can be cleared at any time from the Settings screen. We do not operate servers that store your personal data. We take reasonable precautions to protect your information, but no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
Pestara is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.
• You can deny location permission at any time. The app will still function without it, using nationwide pest data instead of region-specific data. • You can clear all locally stored treatment history and preferences at any time via Settings → Clear Treatment History and Settings → Reset Onboarding. • You can stop using the app at any time.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
